Hawaii Waipio Valley

Image
Completed this layout for a challenge listed on the Dixie Peices forum. And I just noticed that I spelled Waipio wrong, oops. I'll have to fix that. :)

Dixie Peices Challenge

Image
I discovered another great source for good challenges. The below layout was made for a challenge posted on the Dixie Peices forum. We were to create a layout using the sketch below. And, here's my take. I had actually started off in a completely different direction, but really didn't like how the layout was looking so I tore it all apart and started over. I am much happier with this. I decided to use a picture of myself for once :) This was takin at the Hawaii airport in Kona, the day we arrived. Looking outside at the rainy day I sure wouldn't mind be back there!!!

Blocks

Image
I decided to try another Burlap and Buttercup Challenge from their blog. This one was challenging us to use blocks on our layouts. All I kept thinking of was building blocks as she described which led to playing in general, so that is what I went with. I found some cute pictures of my kids playing in the back yard and stacked the pictures horizontally adding some coordinating square paper in the building blocks shape. I always keep my leftover papers so this was a good chance to use some of that scratch paper!!

Working with Rubons

Image
The Friday challenge presented by Burlap and Buttercup s was to use some rubons in your layout. So, I used a lot and had a blast. I love challenges that make me use my stash. And, for those of you who aren't familiar with Burlap and Buttercups, they are a monthly Scrapbook kit club that also has a blog where they post challenges. The neat thing about their blog is that you are not required to use their monthly kits in their challenges so all can play!! I personally, just discovered this site and I believe that it is fabulous!! There are rubons all over this layout (I may have gotten a little carried away :) The embellishments that help frame each of the pictures are rubons as well as the corner flowers in the 2nd half of the layout. The other two rubons are the words Delight and Experience found on the pictures in the 2nd layout. Thank you Burlap and Buttercups for a great challenge!!

Painted My Cricut

Image
So, I attempted to paint the grey sides of my cricut yesterday and got it all taped up when I realized what a poor job I had done on the taping job. I guess my blade was sharp enough so I was having trouble cutting throught the painters tape and was having to patch it up. I could still see white from the body of the cricut. I knew I was going to end up with pink spots all along the sides of my cricut - so I decided to give up on it for the time being. This was harder than the video on Youtube made it look. My husband gave me some pointers on how it might turn out better but I w as done trying at this point. I left for awhile that night to do something with a friend and when I came home Jason showed me my newly painted cricut. He had done it for me while I was gone!!! What an awesome husband I have!!!

Friendship Card

Image
The card uses paper from the Pink Paislee: Bayberry Cottage 6x6 stack. I decided to try something a little different with this card. Not only does it open normally, but it also opens on the top of the card for an extra message to the sender. I used some glitter glue to help highlight the friendship stamp and some buttons to embellish the front flap.

Starring: Grace My Little Blossom

Image
This is a layout I completed using DCWV: The Playtime Stack. I used three different coordinating pattern papers with additional embellishments including two types of metal letters, fiber, and bling. I, also, used two cardstock accessories from My Mind's eye as well as cutting out the flowers from the pattern paper itself and using them as embellishments in the lower right corner of the layout. The middle peice of cardstock with the flowers on it was cut into that wavey border shape using the Give a Hoot cartridge.

Mini Book on a Layout

Image
I used the Fabulous Finds Cricut Cartridge to make this mini book as an embellishment for my daughter's birthday layout. The bear is from the A Child's Year Cartridge.

Wall Decor Using Gypsy Font

Image
I made this wall decor peice for a friend of mine's wedding present. I used Provo Crafts Gypsy Font for the lettering and brown vinyl.
